AutoTrader lists actual "real world" cars for sale. If you are looking for a particular year or model, try expanding your search to 100 miles.  Remember! People ask more on Autotrader than they expect to get. What you see on their website is just an asking price.

 Carfax  get a complete history of any used  car. We strongly recommend getting a carfax report whether you're buying from a dealer or a private individual. A Carfax report includes accident, flood and theft info; mileage history, info if the car was previously a rental car or leased vehicle and more. Carfax has jumped the price of their reports. For a cheaper alternative, we recommend:

NMVTIS, a new US government website which provides similar information to what Carfax does, but at a fraction of the cost. Most vehicles in the US are now covered under NMVTIS. Reports cost $3.50 - $5, which is a HECK of a lot less than CarFax.

National Highway Traffic Safety Admin crash & rollover ratings, as well as info for disabled drivers
