MEDICARE IS FOR SENIORS 65 AND OLDER
ALONG WITH SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE ON DISABILITY RECEIVING DISABILITY BENEFITS
Medicare is health insurance for people who are in retirement.
Navigating through your health insuranec options when you turn 65 may seem like it's a lot to handle. You're getting a lot of phone calls every day and you see those commercials on TV. Your friends are saying one thing about what kind of coverage they have and then you're reading something else in doing your own research online. What's true? Who can you trust?
The answer is that talking to your friends about what type of Medicare plan they have and doing your own Medicare research online is great. But, there are so many plans to choose from. Make sure that you connect with a licensed agent to go over your specific needs.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 or older and younger people with certain disabilities. It was created by the Social Security Amendments of 1965 and is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Medicare has four parts:
- Part A (Hospital Insurance): This covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care.
- Part B (Medical Insurance): This covers certain doctors' services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.
- Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage): This helps cover the cost of prescription drugs.
- Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans): Why did we put this one last? It's because these are private insurance plans that offer Part A, Part B, and Part D benefits together through one plan.
Medicare is a voluntary program, but most people enroll when they turn 65. You can also enroll if you have certain disabilities or if you are under 65 and receiving Social Security Disability Insurance. If you do not enroll when you are eligible for Medicare when you turn 65, you may be charged a penalty directly from Medicare.
If you are enrolled in Medicare, depending on the plan that you selected, you may have a $0 plan premium for most Part C plans. Typically, there isn't a premium for Part A and your Part B premium will come out of your social security check each month. The amount of your Part B premium will be sent to you directly from Medicare. In reality, the amount of the Medicare premium will depend on your income and whether you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan.
Medicare covers a wide range of services, but there are some things that it does not cover. For example, it does not cover long-term care or dental care but that's where a Medicare Advantage Plan would come in. Medicare Advantage is an affordable way to offer seniors and people on disability the coverage that they need as they age.
Medicare eligible clients, those turning 65, and those who are 65 or older.
For those who are 65 and older, open enrollment starts October 15 and ends on December 7 for coverage starting the following year.
If you're turning 65 this year, you have 3 months before and 3 months after your birth month for a total of 7 months to enroll
The most asked question about Medicare is "What does Medicare cover?" This is a complex question, as Medicare covers a wide range of services. However, some of the most common services that Medicare covers include:
- Inpatient hospital stays
- Skilled nursing facility care
- Home health care
- Outpatient care
- Preventive services
- Prescription drugs
Medicare also covers a number of other services, such as ambulance services and mental health care. However, there are some services that Medicare does not cover, such as long-term care and dental care but a Medicare Advantage Plan, also known as a Medicare Part C plan, has additional coverages not included in original medicare.
There are so many Medicare plans to choose from and these plans vary from county to county or state to state. Insurance Agents consider the following before recommending a plan to you:
- The doctors you currently visit
- The dental providers that you currently see
- Your vision providers
- Any current specialists
- Your current medications
- Anything else that's most important to you
